The most classic question has been on my mind the whole day. What is love? What power does it have, to drive people mad and make them act weird. What authority does it have to make people change overnight and move millions of hearts to tears? Is love an answer? Or is it a beginning? Can it be destroyed? Or is it immortal? And finally, can we live without love?
Why does it affect some people more than others? Perhaps because those people have more mature thoughts. They acknowledge love and it's power, but do not allow themselves to be controlled by it. I believe that during adolescence, we start to experiment with love. This is probably the time in life where we do so the most. And as we experiment, we start to formulate our own theories regarding love, about how it works. All this time, we're seeking for that someone special. But how do we tell when we've found him/her? You may be certain that someone is the love of your life today, and then have a change of heart the next, when you meet someone better. This is one of the things that trouble most people. And one of the most common questions I've been asked when sought for advice on love. Probably there isn't a fixed way of knowing if someone is your 'one and only', or perhaps you'll only know when the time comes. But when you're certain of your feelings, do you tell him/her or not? All I can say is, if you love him/her, tell him/her. In a way it's cruel to not let the one you love know how you feel. And if he/she is not interested, you can move on more quickly. At least you'll know how he/she feels in return, instead of just guessing and wondering.
When it comes to love, a few things to go by: Firstly, follow your heart, not your mind. Some say there's no reason to love. I think there is, but it isn't something you can think through with your mind. Love has no logic. The reason for love has to be felt with your heart. Secondly, ai shi bu neng mian qiang de. It will come when it does. Don't try to force it. Thridly, don't let love rule your life. Whatever anyone else says, love is not worth dying for. There will always be others around whom you will love and who will love you in return. And fourthly, gan gan ai ba! Nothing shameful to be in love. You're human after all... Umm... Right? =)
