Silver... What is it? It is a metal. It is shiny. It can be used to make jewelery. And it is also a nice colour. In so many ways it is similar to gold. So why is it that people scream when they get gold for syf, and cry when they get silver? Gold and silver are so similar, and yet so different...
To me... Reality has just started to sink in. It's like an iron bar that weighs in your mind: the longer you carry the bar, the heavier it will seem. But it has been there all along. Nothing has changed, just that you are more aware of it with time. And personally... I don't want this heavy sinking feeling... After all the sweat and blood and tears, all for a silver... I feel cheated.
Maybe I should have known better... I don't know why, but before the release of the results, I had a sudden urge to pray for the strength to accept our results, no matter what it may be. Now I see that it is crucial...
Well... The results are out. We've done our best, and nothing we do now can change it. As long as we know in our hearts that we are worth it, nothing else matters. We may have been labelled with a silver for the next two years, but the music is not the only thing that counts. Our actions, our playing style, show that OUR HEARTS, OUR HOPES, OUR AIMS ARE ONE~ We may have gotten silver, but you all will always be NUMBER ONE to me! And when you think of all we've been through together, the friendships we've forged and the ties we've made, at the end of the day, we're still WINNERS! As Colin said, we're not just any chinese orchestra. We're ACJC Chinese Orchestra. And we're not just a Chinese Orchestra. We're ACJC CHINESE ORCHESTRA FAMILY! One for all, and all for one. We stick together through thick and thin. We will stay STRONG! We shall not let this set us back! We shall leave the past behind and WALK ON! Yeah!
Perhaps God's purpose is to show us this. We've been too obsessed with winning a gold that, despite praying repeatedly, we were starting to try and take things into our own hands. Perhaps God is trying to tell us that ultimately, we need to trust Him, coz He's the Boss. He's in control, not us. So let us put our trust in Him and move on!
Tears have been shed. Blood has been spilled... Okay, maybe not. But what's done is done, we can't turn back the clock and redo our syf. So let us move on, knowing that God goes with us!
(To those who still need to cry... We have tissues at the ready at any moment. And there are CHOCOLATES in the CO room, if you need an anti-depressant. 'I will not say "Do not weep", for not all tears are evil.' - Gandalf)
